The public instance

app.aperturemap.com is a free, community-run Aperture deployment, open to everyone.

Who can use it

Anyone. Sign in with an EVE character and create a map; there is no application process and no allowlist to get onto, which is a different posture from a self-hosted instance, where login is restricted by default. A corp Director can create maps for their corp or alliance, with the same EVE-derived authority Aperture uses everywhere: Directors manage their own corp's maps, and nobody maintains a parallel permission hierarchy by hand.

What it is not

A service with guarantees. The public instance is a free community deployment: there is no uptime guarantee, no SLA, and no promises about retention. It is the quickest way to try Aperture and a perfectly good place to live, but a corp that wants its front door under its own control should self-host.
